About

My name is Apollo Fea. I am an emerging creative from the Highlands of Scotland, trained in costume design and construction at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. I specialise in all things weird and wonderful; colourful and creative; bold and bizarre across costume, props and puppetry. I have gained a vast wealth of experience through my time at university, working with other talented creatives in numerous collaborations, and leading teams as a wardrobe supervisor. My degree has given me the. amazing opportunity to work with and learn from puppet companies Thingumajig Theatre and The Laal Collective on experience placements; and work on my own self directed projects (most recently Mothman!).

As a child, school holidays were filled with “I want to do art today”. As I grew up, I felt the child-like joy of creativity dull in a world that worships productivity, efficiency and economic success. When I found my way back to art and was reminded of what I love, there was no turning back. I now aspire to “do art today” for the rest of my life. All of my work is driven by whimsical fun, with the goal to help everyone re-discover their child-like wonder.

In addition to my costume degree work, I have experience in many other media. Prior to university, I completed a HNC in Applied Arts at City of Glasgow College; with modules in art glass, ceramics, jewellery, textile and performance costume, with a focus on design development and creative exploration through sketchbook work. I additionally have 3 years of experience working at Doodles Ceramics Workshop in Edinburgh, developing a comprehensive understanding of ceramic processes as well as customer service experience.

I am now the co-founder of the Dracume Theatre Company, created to uplift and showcase inclusive student lead theatre. My co-founder, James Wood, and I are both part of the LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities, and while we love making theatre, felt that many spaces were not meant for us. We made Dracume to create a safe space where people like us can belong and thrive. For a year I was a co-director, handling all of the company administration, however I more recently stepped down from the leadership position to focus on the creative elements of my career. I continue to work closely with Dracume Theatre in wardrobe, and am overjoyed to see the company thriving through the creation of the Gateway Festival.

Through my career I hope to work collaborations and commissions for festivals, street theatre and carnival arts. If you would like to work with me, please visit my contact page.
